Civil Litigation

The Basics

How We
Can Help

Generally, disputes in our personal and professional lives can be resolved amicably without the need to walk up the courthouse steps. Individuals and businesses may quickly resolve their disputes outside a courtroom with competent counsel representing their interests. However, in difficult cases, a party may wish to seek the advice of counsel who can properly evaluate the strength of the client’s case, provide guidance to minimize risk and cost in litigation, and steer a client to their intended result.

This is where Syed Law enters the picture. Mr. Syed has represented sole proprietors and large corporations in civil litigation. Syed Law aims to provide high-caliber representation to obtain results with minimal cost. If litigation can be avoided, Syed Law will take concrete steps to obtain an acceptable remedy through skillful negotiation, arbitration, or alternative dispute resolution. Whether matters can be resolved before litigation or through litigation, Syed Law’s strategic guidance will be there for you.

Helping You Manage the Lawsuit Process

Civil Litigation

brining a Lawsuit or Defending Against a Lawsuit

Litigation requires an intimate level of familiarity with the Rules of Civil Procedure. You should not attempt to bring a lawsuit alone or to defend against a lawsuit without an attorney guiding you through the process. Having litigated several hundred matters, Syed Law does not apply a “one-size-fits-all” approach to our clients. For individuals, Syed Law thoroughly evaluates the merits of your unique circumstances. For businesses, we take a holistic approach which factors in your market sector and finances in reducing your overall legal costs. In both cases, Syed Law will make strategy recommendations, if retained as counsel. Once our clients indicate they wish to proceed with litigation, we pursue an aggressive, yet professional strategy to obtain the best results for your case.

Litigation can be a difficult process and few law firms offer clients the counseling they deserve.  At Syed Law, we made a conscious decision to place our client’s needs first in litigation. Let us guide you through this process.

“Discourage litigation. Persuade your neighbors to compromise whenever you can. Point out to them how the nominal winner is often a real loser in fees, expenses, and waste of time. As a peacemaker, the lawyer has a superior opportunity of being a good man. There will still be enough business.”

You Deserve an experienced advocate

Litigation typically involves a high-stakes risk for you personally, or additional exposure to your business. Each case is slightly different–there are some cases which will be put aside on summary judgment (a procedure which removes a jury from hearing your case) and there are cases which will likely proceed to jury trial. By evaluating the merits of your case, I can provide expert guidance about what you can expect, pitfalls to watch out for, and what you will need to move forward. Regardless of how your case will proceed, Syed Law will be there every step of the way.

01

Evaluate Case Merits

The intake begins with an evaluation regarding the merits of your case. A good attorney will advise you regarding what you can expect.

02

Outline Strategy

Next, I will review strategy with you. This can mean discussing the types of motions you can anticipate = in court and how you can respond.

03

Filing Court Documents

Finally, I will file documents with the court. These filings are necessary to preserve your interests. They typically take the form of motions and I will discuss goals prior  to filing.
